2010 Conch Festival
The 7th Annual Turks and Caicos Conch Festival was held November 26-27, 2010 in Blue Hills, Providenciales. A number of restaurants participated in the event which included two of Caicos Pride Products customers, Bay Bistro and Interhealth Canada.

A Turks and Caicos Islander who started in the Seafood Industry in 1991 as a fisherman and later became the plant manager for Caicos Seafood in South Caicos. Over the years he has developed skills and knowledge in all areas of seafood processing. In November 1999 he decided to establish his own seafood processing plant known as Caicos Pride. In 2006 Caicos Pride was sold and became Caicos Pride Products Ltd. Under the new ownership Jimmy was retained as the general manager. Jimmy has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and extensive experience in Management. He is HACCP certified and attended numerous training programs on food safety. He has an eye for detail and believes everything must be done in a perfect order. Under Jimmy’s leadership Caicos Pride Products Ltd has evolved and is now the leading seafood processing plant in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Jimmy’s strong drive for quality paved the way for Caicos Pride to be awarded the prestigious internationally recognized HACCP certification and is the first food establishment in TCI to be fully HACCP certified. Providing "Quality seafood" is our motto!
Oswald is an Environmental Health Officer by profession with a myriad of qualifications and experiences. With over 20 years experience in the field of Public Health Oswald has worked at all levels and in all areas of public health and has more than 10 years experience at the management level. He has worked with the Government of Jamaica and the Turks and Caicos Islands and has done courses in Jamaica, Guyana, Singapore and the USA. In 2005 Oswald acted as the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) consultant to Belize to help build capacity in Food Safety. His knowledge and experience is vast and spans various areas from public health, teaching, manufacturing/processing, and agriculture, to project management, strategic planning, and construction. Oswald holds a Master of Science Degree in Natural Resource Management, and a number of undergrad degrees in Public Health, Animal Health and Veterinary Public Health, and Supervisory Management. Oswald was awarded a Gold medal as the top student in Animal Health and Veterinary Public Health in Guyana, and has earned numerous awards and recognition throughout his course of studies and work for outstanding performance and contribution to public health in Jamaica.
Mark has been responsible for advising governments on fishery policies, the training of fishermen in fishing techniques, and the provision of advice on the development, management and operation of small fishing and fish selling businesses. Mark has an Associate Degree in Commercial Fisheries and Marine Technology from University of Rhode Island and several other qualifications in marine safety and a degree in Small Business management.
He acted for two-years as Director of the Environment and Coastal Resource Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
He has a wealth of international experience having worked in the United Kingdom, France, Malawi, Tanzania, Mozambique, Algeria, Kiribati, Vanuatu, and Turks & Caicos Islands.
Taraleen is a Jamaican by birth with Turks and Caicos Islander parentage. She is an Environmental Health Officer by profession with 9 years experience. Ms. Malcolm has a passion for food safety and is diligent in her stance to ensure only safe wholesome products reaches the consumer. She has worked with the environmental Health Department in Jamaica and the Turks and Caicos islands. With a regulatory background she is keen on maintaining standards and ensures that processing is done within local and international regulations and guidelines. Her undergrad degree is in public health; she has a Master of Public Health degree and is presently pursuing her PhD. She is HACCP certified and a Certified Professional-Food Safety with the National Environmental Health Association. As a part of the Caicos Pride team she developed and coordinated the HACCP program, conducted regular training of the workers, and ensures that the overall quality assurance program is maintained.
Hilgrove was the first worker to be employed by the company in 1999 and is a Turks and Caicos Islander with over thirty four (34) years’ experience in the seafood industry. Starting as a plant worker he has worked his way up the hierarchy to plant manager. He has represented the different plants at various meetings, workshops and consultations. Over these 34 years Hilgrove garnered a wealth of knowledge and experience in seafood processing. He was awarded in 2003 by the DECR for being the longest serving worker in the seafood industry.
Sheryl started working with Caicos Pride in May 2007 as accounting assistant. She was formerly employed with Siena College and worked as a High School computer teacher and later as Finance office staff member.
Sheryl is a graduate with a BS Computer Science in 2003 with units in Secondary Education and Master in Information Technology respectively. While studying, she also worked as Student Assistant at the Finance Department of the school, where she learned most of her knowledge in handling accounting activities such as expenses, cashiering, payroll and inventory. Accounting was learned by heart and through experience. Sheryl was able to respond to the needs of her previous job and now, does the same with Caicos Pride.
Today, Sheryl is responsible for managing Caicos Pride’s computer technical system and assists in the Company’s book keeping - making and sending invoices to customers, ensuring that fisherman, employees and company’s bills get paid on time, up keep of company supplies and product inventory. Sheryl also maintains the company’s security system and ensures they work efficiently.
